Henry Medical Center recently received approval of its Certificate of Need (CON) for a Level III Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The approval designates eight of the hospital’s 28 NICU beds to be used for Level III care.
Offering the highest level of care to babies born at Henry Medical Center was a consideration when the North Tower expansion was added. During construction of the Marcia G. Taylor Women’s Center, the hospital included in its plans the requirements needed to be approved for a Level III NICU. Some of those specifications include additional gas and oxygen outlets, a rooming-in room where parents can stay in the NICU room with their baby and a room where mothers can pump milk without leaving the NICU.
