InpharmD, a tech startup based in Atlanta, announced it has contracted with WellStar Health System, the largest health system in Georgia, for three years to assist physicians, pharmacists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in making efficient clinical decisions. Through access to the InpharmD mobile app, WellStar’s team will be equipped with a nationwide network of academic drug information centers to further enhance the high-quality patient care they provide.
The app gives WellStar care providers the ability to submit complex medical drug delivery questions 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In turn, they receive customized, evidence-based answers within a specified timeframe. Once a question is answered, it is available for other users to see and provide commentary.
“Currently, health care providers must search for the information they need. However, it can be tedious to find exactly what you’re looking for,†said Ashish Advani, Pharm.D, president and founder of InpharmD. “This evidence-informed mobile app helps save time.â€
Each question posed by providers is answered with summarized guidelines, review articles, meta-analyses, as well as the primary literature that could traditionally take much longer to find and review. InPharmD’s answer, however, takes minutes for the care provider to absorb. With each question, the artificial intelligence (AI) behind InpharmD learns and grows its database.
The app is currently available for the iPhone, but an Android version is expected to be released in early 2019. InpharmD expects to develop an Alexa app soon after.
