Dr. Ceana Nezhat was honored with the 2020 Society of Reproductive Surgeons’ Distinguished Surgeon Award. The award was presented during the 2020 Virtual Scientific Congress and Expo of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Nezhat was recognized for his long-standing dedication and experience in the field of gynecologic and reproductive surgery.
The Distinguished Surgeon Award is given based on numerous qualifying criteria for meritorious services, such as: significant contributions to the field, performing research and publishing significantly, and mentoring/training surgeons in the field.
Dr. Nezhat is a gynecological surgeon and medical director of Nezhat Medical Center in Atlanta, which specializes in minimally invasive surgical treatment of severe and multiâ€organ endometriosis, infertility, and urologic and pelvic reconstruction.
Dr. Nezhat has developed techniques and refined instrumentation for minimally invasive surgery for the benefit of patients globally. He offers patients decades of gynecological expertise, both surgically, as well as the management and treatment of hormone therapy and reproductive medicine.
Endometriosis is one of Dr. Nezhat’s special interests. He advocates its early detection and treatment by educating primary caregivers of young women the signs and symptoms of this debilitating disease. Dr. Nezhat’s research and educational outreach have earned him honors and recognition from independent medical associations internationally.
Dr. Nezhat is the Fellowship Director for the Atlanta Center for Special Minimally Invasive Surgery & Reproductive Medicine. In addition, he is Medical Director of Training and Education and Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Robotics at Northside Hospital. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Gynecology & Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine
Dr. Nezhat serves as a Medical Association of Atlanta board member and Editor in Chief of the Association’s journal, Atlanta Medicine.
