Efe Efemini, M.D., MBA, FACP, has been named as the Chief Medical Officer of Piedmont Rockdale Hospital. Prior to this role, he served as Medical Director of Hospital Medicine at Piedmont Atlanta.
Efemini has nearly 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry and has been a lead physician in implementing policy for hospital medicine at Piedmont Atlanta. During the height of COVID, he helped set up and maintain the State’s COVID unit at Piedmont. He has been involved in operational policies, being the hospital physician lead for multi-disciplinary rounds and maintaining a comprehensive physician scorecard to ensure timely and appropriate levels of care.
Efemini received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from The University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria in 1998 and completed his residency at the Morehouse School of Medicine in 2005. Later, in 2018, he received his Master’s in Business Administration from Auburn University School of Business. He is also a long-serving member of the Hospital Medicine Leadership Council, on the Board of Directors of the Piedmont Clinic, Treasurer/Secretary of the Medical Executive Committee, and a member of the Hospital Medicine Clinical Governance Council (CGC).
As Chief Medical Officer of Piedmont Rockdale Hospital, Efemini’s expectations include continuing to increase team building and improving the staff and patient experience. He replaces Monica Hum, M.D. who is now the CEO of Piedmont Rockdale Hospital.
